MY JOURNEY
The profession of psychologist has developed naturally in my life and presented as a vocation since my young age. Ease of contact, empathy and listening have always been part of me. Passionate about travel, art, nature, culture and ethnic particularities, Man, his identity and his well-being are at the heart of my concern.
Belgian of Moroccan origin, interculturality and multiple identity have always questioned me. Taking into account the culture, traditions, ancestrality and rituals belonging to people's lives are key elements in my therapeutic work.
My career has been multidirectional but always oriented towards the study of humans. I began my studies in psychology by orienting myself towards the field of school and work psychology. I was first of all interested in the management of individual career potential, in support in professional career management. A desire to support people in their professional and societal integration. The in-depth helping relationship was lacking for me in this work and quite naturally I also decided to undertake a master's degree in clinical psychology at the Catholic University of Louvain-la-Neuve in Belgium.
During my apprenticeship, I had the opportunity to do internships which introduced me to various methods and fields of psychology. I experienced the work of a career management and job search coach, police assistance to victims in the Brussels-West area, listening and assistance to the migrant space of the Red Cross in Brussels. During my career, the themes of my studies focused on: Anorexia and bulimia in young girls aged 16 to 18 - the influence of manga in the process of identifying adolescents - the transfer and countertransference in intercultural therapeutic work - religious (in) tolerance among adolescents: a study of gender and age.
The transcultural work being an interest, I decided in 2012 to undertake an internship in Senegal at the child psychiatric unit of the CHU of Fann and a volunteer work for the NGO Nuevo Futuro which welcomed abandoned children in Dakar.
In 2013, I undertook a trip to South America and worked for several months in the mountainous region of Peru. I was there as a volunteer psychologist in the NGO Los Cachorros, fighting in particular against drug addiction and prostitution of street children in the Ayacucho area. This experience was also an opportunity to take an interest in alternative ritualized healing practices and to once again take an “ethnopsychological” perspective.
From 2014 to 2016, I worked for a non-profit association in connection with the youth service of the administration of the city of Brussels as coordinator of activities for young people from 3 to 12 years old. Art and culture being present in my life since my childhood, I was able to animate, design various artistic courses and collaborate with many artists from Belgium and Europe.
Since 2016, I have been working in Dakar as a school psychologist and clinical psychologist in the private sector. At the same time, I am continuing my research in connection with the field of psychoeducation, psychosocial and personal development.
My therapeutic support work is imbued with all the tools accumulated during my experience and aims to help the patient to regain his balance and his autonomy in understanding, comfort. and serenity.
