Adult therapy

Two types of psychotherapy are possible in psychological support for adults:

Support therapy

Support therapy consists of accompanying the patient in his reflections and his personal and relational issues and helping him in his ability to adapt to the difficulties of daily life.  Work on a problem previously identified by the patient or a particular life event causing discomfort is often the initiation of therapy. There are a multitude of reasons that can lead an individual to a psychological consultation .

The reasons can be linked to:

  • Suffering at work

  • Expatriation, emigration, difficulty of cultural adaptation

  • Professional, conjugal, family mistreatment, sexual abuse

  • School stress, fear of failure

  • Difficulty of assertion

  • Feeling of isolation, loneliness

  • Confusion

  • Difficulties in dealing with emotions

  • Depression, anxiety, phobia

  • Relationship or emotional difficulties.

  • Painful or traumatic experiences.

  • Mourning, separation, loss.

  • Sexual disorder.

  • Somatizations

  • Sleep disorder, insomnia, pain in one part of the body ...

  • Outbuildings of all kinds

...

Supportive therapy helps to overcome difficult and painful situations. It helps restore psychological balance and reduce psychological suffering in these moments of crisis. This therapy can be quick and short or it can be the beginning of more work on yourself.

  In-depth therapy

So-called in-depth therapy is generally longer, it allows long-term support, leading to self-exploration and deeper changes. It treats older suffering, associated with constraining, chronic, embarrassing symptoms, repetitive patterns difficult to undo.  It allows the patient to take the time to investigate and find the origin of his symptoms in order to better understand them and resolve his problems.
